The extensive literature on the eminent German-Swiss designer/typographer Jan Tschichold (1902-1974) has been almost exclusively devoted to his type designs and other typographic work, notably his 1928 revolutionary book, The New Typography. The fact that Tschichold designed some 70 posters has been far less known and addressed. This book remedies that deficit, exploring Tschichold's poster oeuvre, presenting his own collection of posters within the context of works by such contemporaries as Hans Arp, El Lissitzky, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy & others. In addition, the book investigates notes, clippings, correspondence, and publications.
